Premium Standard Farms Grow/Finish Production Supervisor Dave Rauhauser and MIT Program particpants Ryan Harris and Clayton Dyer (center) talk to a student during a career fair

Premium Standard Farms has developed a Manager in Training (MIT) Program for individuals looking to take the fast track to management.  The MIT Program helps prepare for the role of Unit Manager of a sow farm with responsibility over up to more than 2,000 sows, 10 employees, and several million dollars in company assets.

The MIT works through a series of modules that focus on gaining hands-on experience in swine production, including grow finish, breeding, farrowing, and nursery.  Each module contains three parts: training, demonstrating proficiency by filling an open position, and training a replacement.  While the focus of the program is swine production, the MIT spends time in other areas of our integrated company as well, including the feed mills and processing plant.  The MIT also takes classes on such topics as leadership, managing employee performance, and production protocols.

The MIT Program takes up to 2 years to complete, depending upon the performance of the MIT.  While the program is not a guarantee of being offered a management position, the MIT becomes eligible to interview for a Unit Manager position upon successful completion of the program.

Interested candidates may apply by sending a resume and cover letter to Premium Standard Farms, Attn: Lori Young, PO Box 194, Princeton,MO  64673 or lori.young@psfarms.com.
